Running On Empty (After This Weekend)

Most of the time my blog has been about Lincoln and his many adventures. Tonight I want to do a little spotlight on my husband Craig. Craig and I met back in high school and right away I could tell he was a true guys guy. He loved to do all things outdoors and had 3 monster trucks (at the same time, while in high school). When he got out of high school, he picked up more grown up hobbies like golf and occasionally hiking. But I think he found his true love when he started playing paintball. If you meet Craig, you might think he is quiet, but really I like to think that his mind is always on strategies. All the games he plays on the PlayStation have some kind of role and strategy needed to play the game. I think he was first introduced to paintball by Philip (Avery's dad) back when they were working together. From there Craig took it to the next level and joined a team. I think over the years he has had more than 10 guns! He was so good that he was asked to join a semi pro team that plays in tournaments around Texas. This weekend was one of those tournaments, this time in Houston.

Linc has started to become really attached to his daddy. Friday I had to work, so Craig got to spend all morning with Linc before he went off to play golf. Craig said he was not fussy the whole time he was with him, which is the opposite of how he acts with me in the morning. This was Saturday morning when Craig was heading off to Houston. He kept reaching for his daddy, not wanting him to leave.

I feel the same way when he leaves, but I think Linc shows it better. It is hard to be without Craig even for a few days, and now Linc is realizing it as well. I just really love to be with my husband, even if we are just sitting together, and we can't wait for him to get home.

After Craig was off, I decided to meet Niki and Avery at the gym. This was the first time Linc had been to the Y and to the daycare, but he seemed to do great. It was nice to get a workout in on Saturday morning, I didn't feel rushed like I do on the weekdays. After a great lunch, I was off to get ready for a playdate.
Saturday afternoon Natalie and Owen came over to our house for a playdate. They really seem to like playing with each other. This time I think they noticed each other too! After a short tour of the house, Natalie and I chatted while the boys played. Natalie just found out she will be expected #2 in January, so we had lots to catch up on. I think she might be having a girl, all her symptoms are different than when she was pregnant with Owen.

In between our chatter, I was having to get Linc from doing some stunt he wanted to perform. This is one where he wanted to flip the chair again.

The boys then took turns pushing each other in the radio flyer car. That was a lot of fun. This was in between Linc climbing on the table and me going to pull him down. It seems so natural for him to do this now, but Natalie was so shocked that he was getting up their by himself, and doing it like 5 times.

They played outside a bit, it was such a nice day. When they got back in they all wanted something to drink. Owen saw Natalie's drink and wanted a cup with a straw. It is so funny how when one child wants one thing, then the other wants the same thing. This is the case with the sippy straw cup. Linc never likes to use them, but when I got Owen one, Linc all the sudden wanted to drink out of it.

Owen was nice and shared with Lincoln.

Before the boys said goodbye for the day, they had to take one more spin on the cars/bikes! I think the day was a success. After they left, Linc went down for a 1 hour nap within 5 mins of them leaving, he was pooped. They play so well together, I can't wait to get together again.

I was pooped too from the day, so I just made myself some lasagna and curled up to watch a movie.
Sunday started out rough, Linc woke up at 3:30 and was crying really hard. Since we are sticking to the sleep training, I decided not to go in there right away. 45 mins later, he was still crying and now it was harder. So I decided to go get him about 4:20 and when I picked him up his head felt hot, but I did not check his temp at this time. I figured that was what was bothering him, but I was out of meds. I fed him and we went back to sleep and woke at 6 and then again at 7 for good. When I changed his diaper, he had a temp of 102.2. The strange thing is he had no other symptoms, so I was not sure what was going on. I went and got him some medicine and his temp went down to about 99. After a nap, he started to feel normal, since I didn't want to be cooped up in the house all day, we decided to go over to my parents about 4pm for Linc's first swim in my parents pool for the summer. I love these trunks, Linc got them from Jen for his birthday and the fit pretty good, which is great because his clothes are always big!

Linc and I after a dip in the pool. The water was pretty cold, but after a few seconds it felt fine.

My nephew Ryan was over for a swim and Linc was just watching everything he did. He loves his cousin Ryan.

As always, having to work for a good smile, haha!

Finally!
He loves his little floaty. When I took him out, he tried to get back in by himself. I think it gives him freedom, which he loves, plus he can kick his feet.

All the boys (Ryan's friends) talking to Linc. He just loves watching the big boys have fun.

Getting a ride from Ryan.

Look at the difference between the grandchildren. Ryan is the first grandchild from my brother and sister-in-law at 13 and then Linc at 15 months. There might be a huge gap, but they really seem to love each other!

After all that swimming, I need a drink. How about some chocolate milk?

We had a lot of fun, but I guess Linc was not really well. You see, Linc often gets a fever for no apparent reason, so I never know when he is really sick or not. We have never received a good answer as to why this might happen. Have any of you had a child that had unexplained fevers? So when we got home tonight, he started to feel warm again, and so I checked his temp and it had gone back up to 102. I gave him more meds and put him to bed. I hope that he is not starting to get sick again, I feel like we just got over the last cold.
Oh and I accomplished all these activities while Craig was away. Needless to say, I am ready for him to come home, not only because I miss him, but because I need a break! Have a great week.

Show Us Where You Live

I have been an observer of Kelly's Korner for some time now. Recently she started a blog carnival to showcase people's houses. Since we just moved into our house, oh 6 months ago (ok, so we didn't just move in, but you know how long it takes to get your house the way you want) today's showcase was the first one I wanted to participate in. Today she is doing nurseries and that is the one room in our house that I really like the decor in. So here is our nursery.

Say hello to Lincoln, oh and Molli, he would like to welcome you to his pad.

After you walk down the back hallway, you are welcomed by this sign on his door. We have wood floors in all areas except the bedroom, so we mean what we say. Tip toe if you can, haha! He is much better with sound now, but I think that is because of the white noise machine we have and the enya that plays when he sleeps. Plus, must I say it again, 3 day sleep training!

Lincoln's room in a jungle theme, so we have all kinds of jungle animals and print in his room. This is the wall when you open the door, we hung his quilt here. This wall is special to me because in the right box sits a picture of my grandpa Hank and Linc. My grandpa Hank passed away in February of this year and I am so glad Linc got to meet him before he moved on.

We love his furniture because it reminds us of our honeymoon. It is very beachy, well at least the crib is with the wicker background. The furniture is Munire and they have wonderful stuff. Not a lot of places carry it. We went to St. Lucia and most of the furniture in our hotel looked like this. That was our first idea when thinking of a theme for his room, to do beach. I am glad we did jungle though because it suits Linc to a T.

Here is his changing table and I just love the Lion King so I got this word art done for his room.

Here is his closet door. He really is a baby gone wild, we got this at the same place we got our furniture, Lone Star Baby and Kids.

His favorite horsey, he rides it everynight before he is off to slumber land.

He is were Lincoln lays his head, well that was until he learned how to jump out. Now he sleeps in his pack n play in his room and will until we decide to convert his crib to a toddler bed. I got the blanket made from myubby.com, and it is super soft. He sleeps on it in his pack n play. My sister-in-law, Ginger, made the G for my baby shower. We were not reveling his name yet, so everything had to be baby G.

All baby rooms have to have their name in hanging letters, right! Craig did think them a little girly since they have cheetah print bows, haha. These pictures are of my maternity shoot and then of Linc at 6 months old.

Of all the pictures I took of his room, I forgot to take pictures of his rug. So I had to dig up some old ones I took. Here is Linc on his rug at 9 months. We got it at PB Teen and it fits in perfect with his room.

Here is another one of the front of the rug and Linc at a year, he is throwing a fit here, haha.

Anyway, this is Linc's room. We really love it and I think Linc does as well. When we moved into the house all the walls were painted, so we did not paint this time. His old room was a lime green and really went well with the decor.

Now it is your turn to show us yours. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Hardly A Wordless Wednesday

We had a super packed weekend, I have just now recovered after going to bed at 9 last night! Saturday, Niki and I decided to head out with Avery and Linc on a little shopping trip while the boys hit balls. We hit up McKinley's for lunch, a very active lunch for me. Linc would not stay in his chair and climbed over me at least 5 times and kept throwing his food. But the food was so good I did not care, plus I am use to it. I don't know what I will do when I can sit through a whole meal and not have to get up or scarf my food down in 2 mins flat, haha.

After food we went to the Barnes n Nobles to look at some books. The kids had fun grabbing everything we passed by in the wagon. Niki suggested we go to Half Price books because I had never been there. It was pretty great, I got like 7 books for under 20 dollars and Linc loves them all. It was also a great place for the kids because they just sat and looked at all the books.

The last stop of the day was at Target, the new one by Ridgmar mall. They had these cool shopping carts that we had never seen before. Since we had two kids, we decided to try out the twin cart. The cart's seats looked like roller coaster seats, so Niki decided to go real fast and see if they liked it.

They were unimpressed, but it made for some good pictures. I think by the time we were at target they were both ready for naps.

Avery giving here princess look and Linc lovin it!

Come on mom, more pictures? It looks like a roller coaster seat, right?

Kiss Kiss!
Saturday night we headed over to Lara and James' house for some dinner. Her sister and brother in law came as well. We brought Linc with us and put him down in their spare room and he did great. He went down fast and didn't wake up the whole night. It was nice to eat a dinner were I was not running after Linc. They made fish and it was great. They also got a super cute new puppy named Toshi and we got to play with him. We didn't get home until 12:30 and Linc woke up super early the next day, so we were pretty pooped all day Sunday.
Sunday was a lazy day, but Linc did decide he wanted to sit in the big boy chair. Got up there all by himself.
He wanted to be just like Daddy. Since daddy had shoes on, Linc had to put his on too.
Yay for smiles, that is a pretty good one in my book.

Finally we had a great Memorial Day. Niki and Philip invited us to go to Burger's Lake with them. This was the first time this summer we got in the water. And really Linc's first experience that he remembers in the water, although he has been in before. Here is Linc in his new swim clothes. He was all decked out with a tank top, swim hat, swim trunks (that were too big, haha), swim diaper, and swim shoes. All he needed was floaties or goggles.

Here he is reminding me to put sun tan lotion on him, good thing it was like the first day of summer and super hot.

Mom, I am ready, get up already!

Here you can see the rest of his outfit.

It was a fun day. Linc took a while to warm up to the water in more ways than one. First it was super cold and second I think he was a little confused about the water. He was like, "why is the water cold and why do I still have my clothes on. I think I normally have my clothes off and my ducky in the bath." Avery on the other hand seemed to really love the water and adjusted right away. Linc finally got use to it and played with Levi in the sand. We packed it up there and then headed over to my parents for burgers. Linc was so tired that he passed out in the car and didn't wake up for 2 hours! We were worried because he woke up at 7:30 and that is his normal bed time, but he went back down easy and stayed asleep, can I say another thank you to 3 day sleep! Man has it given me a new outlook on life, haha, not really, but I do have much better rest. Although no amount or rest made me ready to go to work on Tuesday, but hey, what are you gonna do, right. Hopefully we can catch up this weekend, at least I will, haha!

Weekday Update

Recap of our mellow week. My mom came by for dinner while my dad was out of town. We just bought a slow cooker and decided to make a pork butt. That is really what it is called, haha. It turned out really good, and we made pulled pork sandwiches and pulled pork baked potatoes with the meat. We tried to use it again on Thursday for Swiss Chicken. The recipe sounded really good, but I think the time was too long and the chicken came out super dry. We will have to try another recipe. I think the most exciting thing this week was that So You Think You Can Dance came back on! Craig and I both love this show and are so excited to see all the great dances they will have this season. We both secretly wish we were just as good, haha. Maybe if I could get Linc to watch he would be a good dancer, too bad he won't watch TV. Well I guess that really is a good thing. Anyway, here is our week in pictures.

Tuesday was bath night, yay for flower pot!

Finally one of him looking up!

Friday we had a cleaning party after work. Linc loves to clean the tables at school, so I thought I would let him help. He actually picked up the cleaner and a towel all by himself, he knew just what he needed to clean...the yard, haha! I guess he thought the grass was dirty. You can also see is shirt is really wet because I gave him a bowl of water to play in and he dumped the whole thing on the ground and then decided to lay in it. Silly boy.

Clean that grass!

Mommy, I did a good job, now the grass is all clean!

This morning, Linc decided he wanted to get up at 6am, like most weekends. To give daddy some sleep and since it was light outside, we decided to go outside and play. It was really nice and cool out there, so we enjoyed ourselves. Then we came in and read a book, ate breakfast, played with his many toys, put new batteries in Elmo, and walked around outside, all before 8am. So when dad finally woke up, this is the face he woke up to. Linc was already tired and ready for a morning nap, I guess I wore him out.

And made him thirsty!

Well Saturday has just began for most of you, although I have already been up for 5 hours! No nap for me, I want to do something fun today. Have a great weekend and a happy holiday!
