Texas Bluebonnets

Check out the latest 5 posts, we are all updated now!

The bluebonnets are in bloom all over Benbrook and we just had to go get the kids annual picture in them.  We headed out last Saturday afternoon to get some quick pictures.  There is this one spot that had just millions of them and so we trekked over the gates and set up to take some pictures.  Here is Lincoln looking handsome in the bluebonnets.

Kennedy is going through a no smiling and no looking at the camera phase, but she still looks cute!
I only managed to get one picture of the both of them, but it will do :)
Ok, so maybe she smiled a bit, but not on my command, no sir!
Lincoln on the other hand was having fun so he was all smiles!
And then daddy told him to stick out his tongue, that should be fun from now on, haha!
Pretty girl in the pretty flowers
Aren't they just beautiful.  I wish they lasted longer than just a few weeks.

Peter Pan Birthday Club

A few weeks ago we headed over to our first Peter Pan party at Cook Children's Hospital.  A little over a year ago, we went to Jenn Borg's son's birthday party where she had asked for us to bring a donation to Cook Children's Hospital in place of bringing her son, Boston, a gift.  I thought, what a great idea, Lincoln has more than he needs and with his stay at Cook's a few months back, I saw how this money could help sick kids feel more at home while in the hospital.  So this year we decided to participate in the donations for Lincoln's party.  Little did I know that we would then get invited to a party at Cook Children's to celebrate the donations our friends had given in his name.

Lincoln and Kennedy both attend the Cook Children's Child Care, Kid's Place, and see this big playground everyday.  The playground was where the party was held and Lincoln was so excited he got to play on it. It was very different than any of the playgrounds around here, it had a cool sitting teeter totter and rolling slide. They had magicians and arts and crafts outdoors and pictures and another playground indoors.  Here is Kennedy coming in to cool off because it was 80 degrees that day.  She had fun on the foam play mat.
Lincoln got his face painted with his favorite super hero of the day, Batman!
The hospital is made indoors and out to look like a castle, so it would fit that the indoor playground had a Rapunzel tower!

Just climbing away!  She didn't want to look at the camera very much, haha!

She was too busy running away!
His face says it all!
They even had awesome cupcakes, I just wish I knew where the got them from, they were really amazing.

We had a wonderful time and are really glad that we participated in this program.  Hopefully soon Lincoln will understand what he has done to help others and always have a giving spirit.

Another Season is Upon Us

Yep, it is Soccer season again, go Lions!  We asked Lincoln what he wanted to play and he said soccer, I guess he likes it just like mamma! This season he is on a team with mostly 4 year olds and the games are a lot more action packed.  He has a couple of really good team mates that know how to turn the ball and take it to the goal and it is so fun to watch.  We are so proud of Lincoln because he really wants to get the ball this season and will fight for it, a big change from last year.  Lincoln is #8 this season.

Leader of the pack on this one, go buddy!  He almost made his first score as well.
Look at him run, he really wants to get that ball. It is amazing what one year can do.  Last year he was not really interested in getting the ball and now he pays better attention and runs to get it every time.  I bet by next year he will be scoring lots of goals!
Kennedy came out to support in her soccer baby legs.  She is already wanting to play with her brother, it is so cute!
For now she will just cheer him on.
GOOOOO Bubba!

Visit from Wappets

A few weeks ago, The Wappetts came down from New Mexico for Byron's baptism.  Jenny is one of my oldest friends and I always love to see her and her family!  They invited us to the baptism and it was a very touching service with talks and songs from Jenny's whole family.  Bryon is in the middle looking like a grown up in his gray suit!

Kennedy was a little ham during the whole service, smiling and flirting with everyone.
Lincoln was ready to go, haha, he wanted to play and eat cake!

Jenny and I have known each other since elementary school and it is just like old times when she comes into town, nothing is ever awkward and we can pick up right where we left off.  We started a new tradition the last time she came to town.  We sneak away and go to dinner, just the two of us, and then top it off with ice cream!  It was so great to catch up with Jenny and all that is new in her life. Hopefully some day soon we can go up and visit her before they move to Alaska.  Although, I want to see Alaska too, since that is where I was born and don't remember a thing about it.
Here are all the kids at church waiting to go eat cake!  Yay Byron!

Is that Clark Kent or SuperLinc?

Lincoln had his four year check up about a month ago and at this appointment they began to check hearing and sight.  Lincoln did great on the hearing, which is great for a child whom had tubes twice.  He did not do a well on the sight exam.  I figured it was just nerves and that he just didn't want to tell her, but they wanted to send us to see a pediatric eye specialist just in case.

Since the school he goes to is mostly children of medical employees, I was in luck to find someone that actually worked at the doctors office we would be visiting for his appointment.  She explained that it would be a long appointment and to prepare him for the dilation, because that is where the children tend to have the most trouble.

Prepare we did and Lincoln did great for dilation.  He, however, did not want to sit in a dark room for 30 minutes doing nothing, but who does, haha! After dilation, we saw the doctor and right away I could tell that something was not right. He kept pulling out glass after glass and saying to Lincoln, "just a few more" and then proceeded to pull out like 12.  After what seemed like forever, they told me that Lincoln was pretty farsighted and would need to wear glasses, eek!  I thought to myself, a four year old in glasses, how is that gonna work?  Lincoln is your typical rough and tumble boy, I knew I needed to get the insurance on those glasses!

Surprisingly, Lincoln was pumped about getting the glasses and wanted to wear them right away.  We headed up to the mall to get him fitted for his 4.5+ prescription, which they told me was pretty high, and she even said poor buddy, which broke my heart.  Poor thing has not been able to see up close for who knows how long.  The good thing is he really didn't know any different before.  Now it seems like a whole new world to him.  He tells me all the things he can see now and that lifts me up!  Here he is sporting his new glasses to school for the first time.  He just happened to pick out a superman shirt, how fitting!
I was feeling pretty down about Lincoln's sight when Paula and a few people from my work both sent me this picture at the same time!
It is true that all superheros wear glasses in their alter egos and all look strikingly handsome in them.  We showed Lincoln the picture and told him that he was just like superman before he puts on his cape and that made him happy.
I think the fact that he can see better is helping him like his glasses.  He does good about putting them on everyday and hardly gives a fuss.  He is also the cutest four year old I know in glasses, but I might be a bit biased.  I love my little SuperLinc!
